A beacon to Love – Catherine and Patrick

Published July 5, 2017 in Couples and Engagement shoots

When I was in the UK recently I got to do an Engagement shoot for this awesomely special couple – Cath and Pat, I could not be happier for you both. When planning the shoot we had forests and fields of flowers in mind but whilst desperately searching the area for fields of bluebells Cath discovered Wilder’s Folly – an 18th century belvedere . The story behind this tower is too wonderful not to share… and none of us were aware of the back story at the time of shooting. The tower is called a folly as it had no […]

Perfect couple, perfect place, perfect pics…

Published March 1, 2017 in Couples and Engagement shoots

When I met with Lisa a few weeks back she told me of her and Richard’s anxiety around their wedding photos. This is a reality for many couples and an issue they often feel reluctant to discuss  hoping that all will pan out on their BIG day. Things like what to expect and how to respond in front of the camera, how much guidance to expect from the photographer, will the photographer understand the look and feel I want for my photos? For me the most important part of any photography is the relationship between the photographer and the folk being photographed. […]

Koren and Magic’s Engagement Shoot

Published September 20, 2016 in Couples and Engagement shoots

Less than 10 hours after an international flight from the United States Koren and Magic were up at sunrise, dressed ,smiling, laughing and beyond excited for their Engagment Shoot. They are a one in a million couple and were blessed beyond measure with the most glorious weather and a warm welcome to South Africa. Jet lag was non existent, adrenaline ran high and we got some incredible photos. Wedding photos are coming up on the blog in the next few days and you will see the smiles are as broad, the love as real and the day as magical.

Emma and Julian’s Engagement Shoot

Published March 9, 2016 in Couples and Engagement shoots

Emma and Julian were truly blessed with the most spectacular afternoon for their Engagement shoot. The light coming through the trees was whimsical and shooting down in the foresty areas of Simbithi we were able to capture the most gorgeous shots. At our first meeting Emma chatted away about how important her dog and horse were to her and how she would love them included in the shoot. Working with animals adds another dimension to a shoot- there is always an element of surprise and sometimes they can play havoc with the shoot…. but an old dog constantly running off […]

Emma and Cameron’s Engagement shoot

Published October 1, 2015 in Couples and Engagement shoots

In the latest edition of Future Bride Magazine I wrote an article about the value of an Engagement Shoot and Emma and Cameron’s Shoot bears testimony to all I said. In our first meeting they happily chatted about their big day but when it came down to the nitty gritty of the photos they were quick to explain how being in front of the camera was not their most comfortable place to be, and that they were not photogenic and so were really apprehensive about their wedding photographs. Bearing this in mind I encouraged them to do an Engagement Shoot and […]

Tamsin and Shaun’s Engagement Shoot

Published May 9, 2015 in Couples and Engagement shoots

About a month or so ago I wrote an article for a magazine about the importance of an Engagement shoot… and here is a PERFECT example of why one should do it- from uncertain and shy to SUPERMODELS! Tamsin and Shaun I cannot wait for the wedding!     A very big thank you to the Oyster Box Hotel for allowing us to shoot in and around – you are the best, and to Jean -Marc my assistant… even though you took those terrible ‘action photos’ of me almost being washed off the rocks when you should have been giving […]
